Mary's Quilt Thoughts #3.....
Quilting should be fun! Working to have perfect points and perfect stitching is great.....if that is what you enjoy doing. But not every quilter wants to be a "quilt show class" quilter. Quilting should be an expression of what you like to do........playing with color and lovely fabric, trying out techniques that please you, learning to do the sort of quilting that you enjoy and not what you need to "work" on, making gifts for family and friends and good causes. If you want to use a strange color combo or add embellishments that other people don't understand....go for it! It only has to please you!

Your quilts are beautiful! Soooo much work involved, or should I say hours spent on a labor of love. :-)
When I was a little girl, I used to go with my Mother to our church, where she would quilt with a ladies group at church. She also made patch work quilts for years, quilting her own. Living on a farm, all the neighbor ladies would go to each others houses to quilt on that person's quilt. We children would play and it was always great fun. In later years she moved on to making some absolutely beautiful applique quilts, which my daughters and I still cherish. Thanks for bringing such nice memories to life for me today. :-)
Tootie: Thank you so much for stopping by. I developed my first interest in quilting by watching the ladies at my church. I never dreamed that I could actually learn to do that. I think old fashioned quilting bees are wonderful. We need more of that now. I would love to learn more about applique. I'm still a beginner in so many ways! Stop by again some time!
