Bathed in Tranquility.......2007

This quilt is really hard to photograph because it is in a dark bathroom that has no windows. I've tried with lights, without lights, with flash, without flash.....sigh.
Last year we decided to remodel this bathroom on the main floor of our house. My house is a dome and is made of triangles. I have lots of triangle walls.
While Mike was figuring out things like plumbing and cabinets and such, I was designing a quilt in my head to hang on the wall :-)The name is sort of a tongue in cheek reference to the fact that I designed if for a bath.

The room started taking on a "nature" look.....green walls, mirrors with leaves on them......etc.

I chose batiks and decided to work from the top down and go from browns, to purple and gold and eventually end up with green at the tip.

I used chalk to draw some quilting lines that were wavy, but not too wavy for me to use the regular sewing stitch to make them and ended in a couple of leaves.

Here it is lying on the living room floor where the quilting shows up better.

Just a fun project that took little time. I want to do some more triangle quilts one of these days.

The shape of this one is a wonderful surprise, as are all of your great ideas for decorating and designing! I am loving this blog of yours.

Ann: Thanks! Well....when you have trianglular walls that slant, it is hard to hang normal stuff except on the inside walls. Our windows are triangles, too and I want to do a triangle quilt that looks like a window....with a tree with a cardinal in it outside. I took a picture one day that sort of inspired that one, but haven't made the quilt yet! Always too many projects I want to work on.

Love it! Yeah, ....love seeing even a little corner of your house...even a little bathroom wall.

Sandy: Thanks...that's one of the clean walls :-) The bathrooms are very large, the bedrooms small and awkward with the curved walls.
