Spring has sprung! It's lilac time!
What better excuse do I need to start yet another quilt?? I chose these fabrics months ago and kept dragging my feet about starting on it. Couldn't decide if I liked the blue I chose. Well, with the lilacs blooming outside, I couldn't wait any longer! I'm already calling it "Lilac Time" :-)
This is a really simple pattern that only uses 4 fabrics. There are also two simple ways to make it depending on your idea of what is simple :-)
I haven't determined what size it will be yet....that may depend on how much fabric I have since I am using stuff from my stash.
The two blocks that make up the quilt can be made the Eleanor Burns way......make large 9-patches using 4 and half inch squares of fabric and then cut the large 9-patch blocks in half both directions for each of the two combinations.
or
I just cut 2 and half inch strips and 4 and a half inch strips and sew them together in the 4 combinations necessary and then cut them either into 2 and half inch pieces or 4 and half inch pieces as needed to recombine them for the 2 blocks. I was going to do a tutorial, but didn't take photos at all the right times. For any experienced quilter, they will understand easily what to do. I need to make more blocks, so if you are a beginner and want better photos, I will try to take some step-by-step.

I love the colours in that quilt, you must be ahead of us, our lilac isn't out yet. Looking forward to seeing the end result.
That is really going to be pretty. Are you going to the Quilt Show in a couple of weeks at Paducah? I am sad that I won't be able to go this year. Our daughter is expecting and due right around that time and we need to be near by to help. Maybe I will get to go to another show some time.
Goosey: I love the colors, too and hope I have enough fabric to make it bed size. I have a lot of lap quilts already.
Brenda: I plan to go, but wonder what it will be like this year with the Executive Inn closed. I'm a little confused about where it will be held, but guess I will know when I get there. If I go, I will take lots of photos and post them later.
Beautiful colors and I like the pattern too. Simple things have beauty of their own and this makes them look not that simple.
Oh and some step by step photos will really be appreciated by beginners like me!
That purple colour definitely says lilac! I hope you have enough fabric to do what you want ... running out is a frustration I know well.
What a perfect name for the quilt...and I like the fabrics you chose.
Your quilt pattern and colors are gorgeous. I love how the beautiful lilacs blooming outside inspired you to start the quilt.
Please, please do a step-by-step tutorial. I have some experience at quilting but cannot wrap my head around what the blocks look like that you started with. LOL Oh my, your fabric colors are to die for!
