Back from the quilter....gorgeous!

I got my Batik quilt back from the quilter and it is so gorgeous! Linda B is so talented. She did leaves and butterflies all over it and I just love it! I still have to bind the edges. When I get the Christmas tree out of the living room...today....and the edges bound I will stretch it out and get better photos...I hope! I haven't named this quilt and just tend to think of it as "Batik Beauty". Guess I just named it. Here it is stretched on our bed to give some idea of how it looks. I posted the top in an earlier post back in December.
The quilting doesn't show as well on the front as on the back, but in the lighter areas you can see the lovely free hand leaves that Linda made all over it. Click on any photo to bring it up larger.

I love every fabric in this quilt....so nice and "nature" looking. Can't wait to sleep under it. I made it square....about 96" if I remember right. A very simple pattern that is really just an uneven "Rail Fence" block. I got the idea from the quilt book "Happy Hour".

More of the front. I think if you blow this one up larger you can see one of the butterflies she quilted on the left side.

For the back of the quilt I put together a giant 9-patch out of 3 different green fabrics. I wish now I had just used the light green that really shows off the quilting!

This is not accurate color-wise, but it gives you a better look at the quilted leaves.

More of the leaves and more accurate color.
Started in fall 2008, finished in January 2009.

W.Latane: I thought she did a wonderful job with the quilting.

Sandy: I loved the top already and Linda's quilting just made it a whole lot neater! She is so good.

I have quite a collection of batiks...well, probably not near as many as a lot of people have. But I love them so much and have so much trouble even cutting into a single one. I always think what if I end up needing it for a major project!

Then I think I want to do something simple like this that just shows off the fabric itself...this one really made them shine!

Rose: I've been collecting batiks for some time and like you never want to cut into them! They are so pretty on their own. This pattern looked like something that would show off large chunks of them and since it was for our bed, that helped convince me to cut them up :-) Besides....now I can buy some more!!

You are very talented. The quilts on this post are beautiful. I've looked at the other photos, too and very much like Dark Side of the Moon and Crazy Patch Garden.

The sugar plum princess stocking is very impressive and I feel that, even at my age, I would rather like it for myself!

Mean Mom: Thanks! Apparently the family felt that way, too about the stocking and I have a "commission" for 4 more by next Christmas :-)

Absolutely love the gleaming greens and bold browns of "Batik Beauty." What a gorgeous treasure of a quilt!

Country Dreaming: Thanks! I now have it on my bed and am enjoying sleeping under it :-) Those batik fabrics are my favorites and I really love the ones that have a nature look to them.
